How to use it
Chore disputes in shared houses are almost never really about the chores. They are about the sense that the split is unfair and that someone is quietly doing less. A visible random draw fixes the perception problem as much as the practical one.
There are two ways to run it. Either put the chores on the wheel and spin once per person, or put the housemates' names on it and spin once per chore. The second works better when some jobs are much bigger than others, because you can see the distribution as it builds.
Turn on "Remove each winner after spinning" either way. Without it the same person can draw the bathroom three weeks running, which is precisely the outcome the wheel is supposed to prevent.
Common questions
- Should I put chores or names on the wheel?
- Names if the jobs vary a lot in size, chores if they are roughly equal. Either works; pick whichever your household will accept as fair.
- How do I stop the same person getting the worst job every week?
- Use the remove-winners option so each name or chore drops off once drawn, then reset at the start of the next week.
- Can I weight it so someone does more?
- Add their name more than once. Useful when someone has skipped a week and owes the house a job.
